As pioneers in our profession, we follow in the footsteps of our founder, Frank Osborn. He took a leadership role in developing new methods for concrete testing and design standards. With the rapid changes in technology and materials, we are more committed today than ever to the spirit of innovation. Examples of Osborn's innovation milestones include:
- "The Osborn Tables," the forerunner of today's American Institute of Steel Construction Design Manual authored by Frank Osborn in 1902
- The first concrete sports stadiums that replaced the fire-prone wooden structures starting in 1909
- The larger, double-deck stadium design seen at Yankee Stadium and Fenway Park
- The second generation of stadiums, engineered by cantilevering the upper decks to remove view-obstructing columns
- A recent Design Excellence Award for a carbon fiber reinforced concrete bridge that may lead to a future of virtually maintenance free concrete bridges
