Osborn was the perfect choice for this bridge replacement since we were the designers of the rehabilitation of this structure back in 1960.
Our approach to this project was to design the structure to achieve maximum width while still utilizing the existing substructure. This innovative approach produced an excellent cost effective result. Our design incorporated a new cantilevered deck under the sidewalk to help gain as much as 4 feet in additional width on either side of the bridge.
We investigated and implemented the widening of the bridge deck to improve the intersection site distance (ISD) for Wilson Mills Road traffic turning on to Chagrin River Road.
Our analysis considered the use of steel sheet piling and rock channel protection to mitigate channel erosion. Steel sheet piling minimized the requirement for the right of way, greatly reducing overall project costs.
