Progressive Field Solar PV System
The Cleveland Indians are proud to be the first American League team to utilize solar electric technology in their ballpark, and Osborn was pleased to be a part of this "Our Tribe Is Green" project. Working with Doty & Miller Architects, we were retained to perform the structural and electrical engineering services for the integration of a solar panel system into a picnic pavilion shelter at Progressive Field. The system was designed to integrate with the architectural features of the ballpark, in addition to providing clean, renewable energy. The 800 square foot structure is located on the park’s southern elevation at the upper concourse.
The electrical power generated by the forty-two 200-watt photovoltaic modules is fed into the ballpark’s electrical system. The photovoltaic array not only reduces the ballpark’s energy use from traditional power sources, but also adds to the Indians’ growing list of sustainability initiatives.
