The Borden Building - Columbus
HVAC System Re-Commissioning
Given the opportunity to improve this building's operating efficiency, our Energy Optimization team performed a study to evaluate the existing HVAC systems and controls in the Borden Building, a 34-story office building.
The findings of the study noted that variable frequency drives were installed on all of the HVAC fans and pumps, yet were not being controlled by the temperature control system. Osborn made simple changes to the sequence of operations coupled with the addition of control points allowing effective modulation of the equipment drives. The minimal investment by the owner resulted in an astonishing 20% reduction in energy consumption and a welcome annual utility savings of $145,000.
