Lorain Metroparks Aquatic Center - The Splashzone
Architect - Larson Architects

From our recreation design expertise, Osborn was called upon to provide complete engineering services for this new recreation complex. The 27,000 sq. ft. facility incorporates an indoor 8-lane, 25-yard competition pool and a large tot pool, as well as a 19,000 sq. ft. outdoor leisure pool as its main attractions. Osborn's design includes an energy efficient pool dehumidification system, which uses waste heat from the dehumidification process to preheat the indoor pool water. Osborn was able to reduce the first cost by not including an outdoor condenser for heat rejection of the dehumidification system in warmer months. Instead, the excess heat is used to warm the outdoor pool, saving the cost associated with operating the pool heaters.
