Learning Technology Center
This Learning Technology Center project develops a new model for the role of a library at Lorain County Community College, one that supports and encourages the major transformations in learning that have characterized higher education in the recent years. Critical to the success of this model is the melding of social and academic life on the campus in a dynamic new library and learning center that serves both the commuter students as well as the local community.
Situated at the main entrance of this pastoral suburban campus, the new Learning Technology Center will not only act as a gateway to the college, but will shine like a beacon as it establishes a new front door. It sits immediately adjacent to the college’s Student Life Center and acts as one, integrated facility through an active, vibrant connector know as the “Avenue”. By combining collection space with instruction and social space, while incorporating all student services, it offers a truly “one-stop shopping” environment for the students, parents, faculty, staff and the community.
