Ohio Stadium NW/University Suites

The Ohio State University | Columbus , Ohio
OSPORTS + Osborn was commissioned by the University to lead the design in collaboration with HNTB to modernize both the infrastructure and fan experience for the 95-year-old stadium. The project was phased over a 3-year period and included the total renovation of the University Suite located in the press box. The 5,000 SF suite includes premium seating, lounge area with two bars, and various areas to socialize with premium amenities. The suite features a moveable glass exterior wall that enables the suite patrons to truly experience the unique game day experience at the Horseshoe.

The project also included the addition of 16 luxury suites and 44 loge boxes to accommodate the growing demand for premium seating. Both areas are connected to a new private club that allows for socialization before, during, and after the game. Like the university suite, the new club feature a 120 linear foot retractable glass wall that opens the entire club to the stadium bowl.

OSPORTS + Osborn provided an assessment of the power distribution system for the east, west and south stands to provide redundancy for the stadium. The electrical upgrade consisted of upgrading the current switch and fuse switchboard to a breaker type panelboard. This also included installation of a new dry type substation and introduction of n+1 redundancy into the system. Substations were added on both the east and the west sides of the stadium. The lighting design consisted of all LED light fixtures and utilizes wireless lighting controls. Custom pendant light fixtures were designed to allow illumination on the first floor of the suites without causing glare to patrons on the upper level. The custom light fixtures integrated the use of the Buckeye Athletic Leaf logo into the fixture to provide a unique appearance. The other main lighting fixture in the loge area is a continuous recessed linear fixture that follows the horseshoe curve of the stadium.
