James A. Rhodes Arena Fan Experience Upgrades
OSPORTS provided architectural and engineering design services for upgrades to James A. Rhodes Arena scoreboard/videoboards and sound systems. As part of this project, OSPORTS conducted a due diligence study and provided an assessment report of the existing sound system. OSPORTS was also able to review the existing structure, complete a finite element analysis, and determine a minimalized reinforcing scheme to economically support the new video board.
A new rectilinear, multi-faceted direct view LED center hung video board was installed with vertical ribbons added to the bowl facing fascia of the four corner column structures at the corners of the space. The result provisions two 21’ x 12’ side facing videoboards, two 16’ x 9’ end facing video boards with 14’ x 2’ horizontal ribbons below, and four 4-1/2’ x 12’ vertical ribbons.
Both the audio and video systems create a modern network of technology that provides a basis for an immersive fan experience that through wireless connectivity throughout the JAR can be brought to each and every fan’s common BYOD content management system (smartphone or pad interface).
Project Cost: $1.4 Million
