Ianniello Field House & Athletic Venues

Pace University | Pleasantville , New York
OSPORTS provided Architecture and Engineering design services for a new 24,000 SF athletic complex at NCAA D2 Pace University in New York. The project was part of a winning design-build competition. Partnered with Andron Construction, based in Goldens Bridge, New York, OSPORTS was the principal designer and Architect/Structural Engineer of Record for the project.

The new 24,000 SF field house features strength and conditioning, sports medicine rooms with hydrotherapy, training/taping areas, rehabilitation and exam rooms. The first level houses locker rooms for football, lacrosse, soccer, field hockey and softball and coaching offices and meeting rooms are on the second floor. A highly finished Alumni Suite overlooks the stadium and functions as the main conference room for athletics. Our critical analysis/code review of the field house enabled the project to be phased for growth. The structure is designed to add a third level and expand horizontally to 84,000 SF.

The multi-purpose turf stadium accommodates football, lacrosse, soccer and club/intramural sports. The new baseball field includes artificial turf, lights, grandstands, fencing and new dugouts. Each venue shares the same design guidelines to match the field house architecture with white press boxes, Pace “Blue” seating and field padding. The idea was to create a common language for the new athletic complex.

The building integrated a video/scoreboard on the north side of the building and south side of the multi-purpose field. The OSPORTS team added structural steel framing as part of the base building contract documents to provide flexibility for a 14-foot high by 25-foot wide videoboard. There is also a separate digital scoreboard appropriate for multi-purpose sports games. The 16mm 240x448 RGB LED videoboard is the finest of its kind in NCAA Division 2 on the east coast.
