Nationwide Arena and the Columbus Blue Jackets engaged OSPORTS to provide concept design for an off-season renovation of the team locker room and support spaces. The team locker room, hydrotherapy area, and toilets/showers were prioritized to be renovated over the Summer, before the season 2021-2022 began. The Osborn Lighting Studio worked closely with OSPORTS to provide the lighting design for all renovated areas.

 

Initially envisioned as a smaller scale “refresh”, it was determined the locker room needed a full scale renovation to provide the look and feel the Blue Jackets wanted to achieve. New lockers, flooring, raised ceiling, and LED lighting transformed the outdated space. The centerpiece of this space was a new ceiling hung mini-scoreboard with Blue Jackets branding and convex LED monitors. The scoreboard displays game highlights and can be programed to welcome potential players and corporate sponsors.

 

Color-changing LED luminaires were selected for the toe-kick and architectural coves to provide vibrancy and excitement to the space. Careful coordination between the mechanical systems and lighting placement was a critical element in the design. Backlighting of picture frames at the lockers added another element of visual interest.
