Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium Track Replacement

The Ohio State University | Columbus , Ohio
Osborn Engineering led a comprehensive $2.76 million replacement of the track at The Ohio State University’s Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium to address subgrade instability, moisture intrusion, and a pavement system beyond its useful life. The project included full-depth pavement removal and cement stabilization of the existing subgrade, followed by new paving and track surfacing installation. It was designed to meet NCAA and World Athletics certification standards, supporting the Ohio State Buckeyes Track and Field program. The project had a tight design and construction window to accommodate Track & Field and Soccer seasons. The completed facility features Beynon Sports Surfacing’s BSS2000 full-pour polyurethane running track, offering Olympic-caliber performance. In addition to the 9-lane track, the project also involved the replacement of pole vault, long/triple jump, javelin, and training areas. The new track and facilities will allow OSU Athletics to pursue a World Athletics – Class II certification, joining an elite group of national facilities.
