55 & 75 Arch Street Garage Assessments
Summa Health System | Akron , Ohio
55 Arch Street Garage Assessment | The 55 Arch Street Parking Garage is comprised of four and a half structurally supported levels plus one slab-on-grade level. The total capacity of the garage is approximately 650 spaces. Built in 1987, the garage is open to patients, visitors, and employees of the hospital. This project involved conducting an on-site observation survey of the cast-in-place post-tensioned structural system, as well as conducting a concrete testing program that involved collecting concrete powder samples from the structural slabs. The condition survey included a visual observation of the slabs, beams, columns, walls, and waterproofing materials, in addition to a mechanical sounding evaluation (chain drag) of the top surfaces of the decks.
The deteriorated concrete areas were quantified, and a report was prepared that included the types of repairs and their associated estimated costs. These repairs were then prioritized for the purpose of developing a preventative maintenance program. Phased construction drawings were prepared to meet the budget restraints of the client. The construction drawings included typical repair details and located on plans where the repairs were located. Construction administration services were also provided for the duration of construction.

These repairs were then prioritized to include only the immediate priority repair items identified to meet the budget restraints of the client. A phased detailed construction documents package was prepared that shows the typical repair details as well as locates the immediate priority repair items on the plans. Construction administration services were also provided for the duration of construction.
